Sugar alcohols are found in artificial sweeteners and in sugar alternatives such as erithritol (Swerve) and stevia. Typically artificial sweeteners are not considered keto because they are highly processed chemicals and can cause inflammation. Erithritol and stevia are processed from natural plant material so they are generally accepted by the keto community. For best weight loss results, I’ve been told to count total carbs rather than net for sugar alcohols. I do limit the use of these products to about once a week.
