We took a little hiatus from our June meetings because 1) We moved! To Chatham, just down the road; but still, moving is a lot of work! and 2) we went to KetoCon! This was our third year to attend this conference in Austin which gets bigger and better every year. It’s a great opportunity to learn more science and hear the inspirational stories and be immersed in a community of like-minded keto people. We hope you’ll consider going on your own keto conference adventures!
The first speaker at Keto Con this year was Ken Berry, MD; author of the book Lies My Doctor Told Me, Medical Myths that Can Harm Your Health. He’s an interesting speaker and uses humor with a directness that is captivating. His short, informative videos are all over social media if you’re interested in following him.
We had lots of good food while we were traveling, but it’s good to be home and in our own kitchen again. We made keto BBQ sauce for our summer grilling. It’s hard to find a keto ready-made version and this recipe is so easy and so good, I do think you’ll find it’s worth making in your own kitchen. You can find the recipe here.
Dietdoctor has added a new guide to using low carb for mental health. Turns out eating real food is as important for our brains as it is for our bodies! This is huge news that deserves to be known by everyone. Depression, anxiety, ADHD, Alzheimer’s. . . all being linked to excess insulin.
Some of you know Trev from previous meetings. He just celebrated his two-year ketoversary and shared his amazing transformation story with pictures. Isn’t that fantastic?!? We’re so happy for him and so proud of him. It’s a wonderful thing to find this way of eating and experience the healing benefits; and when we can share our stories and inspire others to do the same, it’s even better. Thank you to Trev for sharing his story and passing along hope and inspiration to others who are ready to hear!
Our facebook page Keto with Kynda & Mark has a photo album with over 300 pictures of the food we eat; so if you need some ideas, head on over there.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us. Our next meeting is July 23rd, 6:30 pm at Unity. See you there!
Til next time,
